Still thinking about this one….what can one say about oneself and not sound pompous, egotistical and self-promoting?
I think since it is a place where I am free to express my interests, this blog might speak for me better than I can myself.

very nice!
Thank you!
Dear Theinkbrain, I just chanced upon a translation of Charlotte Mew’s “On the Road to the Sea”… Thank you for including it in Greek, it was immensely moving for me to see it here… and with such lovely pictures to accompany it! Warm regards, Olvia P.
I am the one who most sincerely thanks you.
It was due to your dedicated effort that I was able to find such a translation!
σας ευχαριστούμε (I hope this is correct)
Thanks for posting the link to Sylvia Townsend Warner reading ‘Gloriana Dying’. I’d never heard her voice though I’ve long loved her writing. What calm authority in the reading – she’s seen it all!
Indeed she has – and how well! I rather think there was more than just a bit of old Liz in Sylvia.
you are brilliant and profound. Devi
The Ink Brain, Smoky Lee is a brilliant-looking dog! I am sure some of his brilliance rubs off on you as well. I look forward to reading more from you.
Yes, he is both brilliant and lovely – the softest temperament you can imagine –
but as for his brilliance rubbing of – I have to admit, only in the smallest degree!
Thanks for the visit.
Hi there. Your flowers and the rainbow are beautiful. Smoky Lee, however, is regal. He looks quite world-weary in the first picture 🙂
Thank you! The Smokes does have his moments! I know he looks that way, but he is the gentlest soul I have ever met.
Thanks for stopping by!
Reminds me of an old daschund i had. Someone said he needed an ascot 🙂
I can believe that. Some dogs can seem quite human – though I am sure that is no real compliment – they are so much more humane than we could ever be.
Hi,
Tracked you down from your comment below. Some high school classmates and I were interested in the hymn “From Greenland’s Icy Mountains” by Bishop Heber because “Ceylon” is mentioned. If you sang it at school assembly, let me guess – must be STC or Trinity. I hail from the same locale. Have lived in Canada since 1971.
Your email does not work
Regards,
Eric
I love this hymn – I used to sing it in church and school assembly in Ceylon – ” where every prospect pleases and only man is vile” – so true even today!
But that aside, I look back with love and amusement and a little sparkling irony to those days. I just did a post in my blog of the Rbt.Graves poem ‘A Boy in Church’ which brought it all back. theinkbrain.wordpress etc take a look if you don’t believe me!
Thank you for posting this. Love you gramophone and all those boxes of needles. cheers!

That was Methodist College Kollupitiya!
Thank you for your interest. My uncle and cousins attended Trinity in Kandy, and my great-grandfather was an award-winning scholar at STC.
Best wishes!
Thanks, must have been Elementary school at Methodist, because higher grades were female.
Regards,
Eric
Very few good renditions of ‘Greenlands Icy Mountains’ on the internet. This one sung beautifully by a Chinese lady is by far the best.
Hello theinkbrain: A friend recently showed me your intelligent review of my novel “Light, Coming Back,” which you posted in July 2011. Many thanks for your thoughtful response to my work.My latest novel, “Ferragosto,” is with my agent, and I hope you will look for it next year.I wish all reviewers “got it” like you did. Ann Wadsworth
This is unbelievable! I am shocked to find that my post came to your notice, and that you so kindly took the time to respond to it. I was indelibly struck by your story and your writing, and have googled your name several times to check for a second novel. “Ferragosto” hints at an Italian holiday, and I will await your book with great anticipation. Though “next year” sounds like an awfully long way off, I know it will be worth the wait. Don’t know why, (maybe I do) but you have made me think of Sybille Bedford. I am trying very hard to write without gushing, but I have to say I love your writing, I loved your first novel, and I have every expectation of loving your next.
